Masters Scholarship Information

The Scholarship Committee has the option of not awarding a scholarship if sufficient quality applications are not received.

Criteria for Selecting Graduate Scholarship Recipient:

- Must be a legal resident of Arkansas.
- Must be a Family and Consumer Sciences major at an Arkansas university.
- Must have been admitted to a graduate program, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and maintain a 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0 in graduate school.
- Must have demonstrated qualities of leadership in AAFCS.
- Must be a current member of AAFCS.
- Must have been a member of the American and Arkansas Associations of Family and Consumer Sciences for at least two of the last three years.
- Must submit scholarship application fully completed with official transcript(s) (not a photocopy) of all college work.

Procedures for Scholarship Selection:

- A scholarship committee, chaired by the AAFCS Scholarship Chairperson, will review applications and recommend the recipient to the AAFCS Board.
- The AAFCS Scholarship Chairperson will officially notify the scholarship recipient and also the other applicants after the formal announcement at the Arkansas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Meeting.

Awarding the Scholarship:

- All applicants are encouraged to attend the Annual Arkansas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Meeting.
- The Scholarship recipient will be announced during the Arkansas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Meeting.

Payment of Scholarship:

- Upon verification of the recipient’s enrollment (letter from the registrar or copy of proof of payment of college expenses), the total scholarship will be paid to the individual.
- The scholarship must be used within one year of the award.
